MSN 2013 : Mobile Sensor Networks: Theory, Control - WikiCFP

International Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks (IF: 0.203)

Special Issue on
Mobile Sensor Networks: Theory, Control, Communication, and Computation Issues

With the advances in wireless mobile and sensor technologies, recent years have witnessed the proliferation of application scenarios ranging from environment monitoring to emergency search-and-rescue operations, whereby large numbers of pervasive computing devices are connected to a wireless networking infrastructure in an ad hoc manner. Mobile sensor networks (MSNs) bridge several existing research areas, including multiagent systems, sensor networks, robotics, control theory, and machine learning. This special issue will publish results in MSNs to share the state of the art in this field and explore the new frontiers that may be of interest to researchers.

This special issue is focused on the theory, control, communication, and computation issues of MSNs. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
Coverage planning, coordinated deployment, and connectivity maintenance
Self-organization, localization, and synchronization in MSNs
Failure resilience and fault isolation strategies
Cooperative sensing and learning in MSNs
Robust sensing and control in uncertain environments
Radio access technologies and protocols and channel and traffic models
Energy efficient and intelligent internetworking protocols
Cooperative formation and flocking control in MSNs
Distributed sensor fusion and estimation
Cooperative mapping and localization
Distributed task allocation strategies
Cryptography, security, and privacy of MSNs
Resource management and energy efficient design
Performance management and optimization
Quality of service (QoS) in MSNs
Prototypes, test-beds, field trials, simulation platforms, and innovative emerging applications of MSNs
