Keeping up: Ohio State Buckeyes in the NBA, week of 1/8-1/14

Lately the former Buckeyes in the NBA and their teams have been playing some streaky basketball.

While Evan Turner and the 76ers recently ended a 5-game losing streak, Jared Sullinger's and Kosta Koufos' teams are riding winning streaks of at least five games currently. Mike Conley and the Grizzlies have really struggled in their last two games and it makes you wonder if a losing streak could be in the cards for them.

Mike Conley - PG - Memphis Grizzlies: The highlight last week for Conley was a 21 point, 5 assist performance in a 101-98 win for Memphis over San Antonio. Conley didn't get long to savor the win as Memphis lost the next night 104-83 to Dallas and Conley only had 7 points and 4 assists. To wrap up the week Conley went 2-11 from the field and Memphis lost by 26 at home to the Clippers. Memphis is 24-12 on the season and sits in 4th in the Western Conference.

Daequan Cook - SG - Chicago Bulls: In a 97-58 win on Monday night over Atlanta, Cook registered his highest point total in over a month. Cook hit two 3-pointers and had 6 points in five minutes on the floor in the blowout win. There was only one other game that Cook appeared in last week, playing just over three minutes without scoring any points in a 97-81 loss to Phoenix on Saturday night.

Kosta Koufos - F/C - Denver Nuggets: Koufos scored a career-high 21 points on 10-17 shooting from the field Friday night against Cleveland. Koufos played a season-high 35 minutes in the win versus the Cavs. The other two games the Nuggets played last week saw Koufos' playing time return to a more normal amount, playing 21 minutes in each of those games. The Nuggets have been on fire lately, winning their last five games and currently holding the 6th spot in the Western Conference standings.

Byron Mullens - F/C - Charlotte Bobcats: Mullens is still out due to the sprained ankle he suffered on December 22nd.. Not much new information has been given on his injury, but it was originally thought he would miss about a month of action. Hopefully Mullens' ankle is healing and he gets back to action soon.

Evan Turner - G/F - Philadelphia 76ers: As the 76ers broke their 5-game losing streak on Saturday, Turner had his best shooting game in almost two weeks. Since going 8-14 from the field on January 1st against the Lakers, Turner had failed to shoot over 50% in his next five games until Saturday. While Turner has been struggling from the floor he has tried to contribute in other areas. The Villain has had 7 rebounds in each of the last 4 games and has dished out at least 5 assists in 6 of 7 games in 2013.

Jared Sullinger - PF - Boston Celtics: Another strong week from Sullinger is forcing Doc Rivers to give the rookie minutes off the bench. Sully had double-doubles in back-to-back games last week, with 12 points and 16 rebounds on Wednesday versus Phoenix and 14 points and 11 rebounds versus Houston on Friday. The contributions from Sullinger off the bench is one of the reasons that Boston is currently riding a 6-game winning streak. The Celtics are 7th in the tight Eastern Conference, but only 2 games behind 4th place.
